We are currently without a minister. During this time we have a group of elders and trustees to carry the church on during this period.

Penny Smoker - Trust Secretary

I am married to Kevin, with two sons, three grand-children,  two step grandchildren. And 4 step great grandchildren.

I have been involved in Seaford Baptist Church since 1989 having been baptised there in November 1990. I volunteered for a number of years in Sunday School for 9–11-year-olds. In 1997 we lived and worked in the United States for fourteen years where I was the personal assistant to the Senior Pastor of a large Southern Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona. Returning to Seaford in March of 2011.

On our return to Seaford having retired I volunteered at the church two morning a week doing admin work some of which has now been handed over to another volunteer when I took over the Trust Secretary role.

Kevin Gardener - Treasurer

Kevin has been a member of the Seaford Baptist Church for over three years. Kevin is married to Lilly and they moved to the UK in 2001 from Cape Town, South Africa. They have lived in various counties in the UK, having to move due to Kevin’s project management career. Kevin and Lilly live in Newhaven and have a daughter who lives in Denton and a son who lives on the Isle of Wight.

Kevin is now retired but has been active in participating in church responsibilities in the past. These include church treasurer, leading Bible studies, pre-marriage counselling and youth work.

As well as being the treasurer and a trustee, Kevin is part of the DIY team and the sound desk team.

Jeff Herring - Trustee

I joined Seaford Baptist Church in June 2018 and have been a committed Christian for thirty years. My journey in faith began with my baptism thirty years ago at Seaford Community Church. Since then, my faith has been a central part of my life, guiding my actions and commitments.

I am blessed with a wonderful family. My wife Jo and I have four children: Luke, Levi, Leah, and Lucy. We have lived in Seaford for twenty-eight years, making it our home and community.

I sense Gods calling to serve as a Trustee at Seaford Baptist Church. In my service to Seaford Baptist Church, I lead a home group on Thursday nights and manage the submission of Gift Aid claims for SBC from the Government. Additionally, I actively participate in the men's breakfast and am a member of the prayer team at SBC. These roles have given me a deep understanding of the church's needs and the importance of community support.

Professionally, I work full-time for American Express, where I have been employed for twenty-three years. My roles have primarily involved customer service and administration, equipping me with valuable skills that I believe will be beneficial in a trustee capacity.

With my experience, dedication, and commitment to Seaford Baptist Church, I am eager to support and serve with the trustee team. I believe that my background and skills will contribute positively to the church's mission and goals.

Angela Ayres - Pastoral Trustee

I have been a member of Seaford Baptist Church since I was a young person. I came to faith at a Covenanter camp and have been involved in many areas of the church and church life. I have volunteered within the youth work both in Transformers and the Friday night youth club (when it originally was called Interface). I was also chair of the Women’s group known as Ladies Contact Club. I have been a member of the World Mission Team as well as helping to run Who Let the Dads Out (pre pandemic).

I have had several jobs since leaving school. When I left school I went to work for Boots the Chemist in Eastbourne on the chemist/pharmacy counter and then worked my way up to acting Department Manager. I took time out to have the girls. I returned to work when they went to school and worked in nursing homes and primary schools in Seaford and Peacehaven. I’m also involved in the Flower Arranging Team.

I have been married to Elke my wife for nearly 10 years and we moved down to Seaford in the summer of 2016 for work purposes.  When I was younger I enjoyed all sports, playing a lot of football and cricket. I enjoy long walks with my wife over the Downs and along the seafront in Eastbourne and here in Seaford.  I so enjoy my work now at SBC and look forward to helping people and facilitating all the diverse groups that use our building.
